Lavender-Mint White Tea - 2024
Introducing our Lavender-mint White Tea – a truly exquisite blend that transcends ordinary tea experiences. Sourced from the sun-kissed tea gardens of California, our whole-leaf lavender mint white tea is a testament to quality, craftsmanship, and a commitment to excellence.
The blend features the uncanny marriage of premium white tea leaves and invigorating lavender-mint. The full-bodied white tea leaves have a complex vegetal flavor with a hint of ginger and a pronounced red pepper note which gives it a unique spicy undertone.
Lavender mint is cultivar of peppermint that naturally has a lavender essence to it, hence the name. The lavender-mint provides a refreshing and cooling sensation which creates a harmonious blend that is both calming and revitalizing.
This is a very rare blend as mint is almost always paired with green tea. The reason is because the shredded mint leaves tend to be viscerally menthol and easily overwhelming. To balance this, you need a boldly vegetal and grassy green tea so that there is parity. White tea tends to be too delicate to handle the task.
Lavender-mint is rare mint cultivar that is impossible to source so we planted our own plot for tea blending. It’s an otherworldly union of mint and lavender that is uniquely its own. In our case, our hand-plucked lavender-mint leaves are minimally processed and slowly withered to create something dramatically less astringent than your typical mint tea. The subtle sweetness and elegant mouthfeel allow it to be paired with gentler teas.
Brew a cup and let the soothing aroma and delicate flavors transport you to the picturesque tea gardens of California, where each leaf tells a story of dedication and passion. Indulge in this everyday luxury and enjoy tea as it was meant to be.
Harvesting & Processing Information:
We hand-plucked the leaves with 1 bud and 1-2 leaves for the white tea. The leaves are akin to traditional Baimudan aka “White Peony”. Unlike most white teas which are rapidly fan-dried in mechanical troughs, we very slowly dry the leaves on withering trays to preserve the leaf’s natural oils and volatile compounds for a superior flavor.
As a result, we air-dry (wither) the leaf for up to a week in a temperature-controlled room to get to 20% moisture before very gently finishing it in the oven at 80 C for 4 hours where it is finished at 8% moisture.
Contents: 1 oz (28 grams) loose leaf white tea. One package makes 10 cups of tea. These cups can be re-steeped three times making a total of 30 servings. Which comes out to 83 cents a cup for our premium California grown tea.
